Mother sues St. Paul School after daughter slips on water hose in playground

NEW ORLEANS – A mother is suing her daughter’s school after the girl allegedly slipped and fell on an unraveled water hose in the playground.

Kimberly Rivers-Roberts filed the suit against St. Paul Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran School in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

The suit states that on Sept. 11, 2012, the plaintiff’s daughter, a student at St. Paul School, slipped and fell on a water hose that was left unraveled on the school’s playground.

The defendants are accused of failing to keep the passageways and playgrounds in reasonably safe conditions for students, failing to keep the premises free of hazardous conditions, failing to take action, and being otherwise negligent.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain, mental suffering, loss of earning capacity, medical expenses and other damages.

The plaintiff is represented by James J. Carter of James Carter & Associates LLC of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
