GRETNA – An insurance company is suing a contractor for allegedly causing a fire while repairing a home that was flood damaged during Hurricane Isaac.
Aegis Security Insurance Company filed suit against Prestige Facility Maintenance Service LLC, Prestige Services LLC and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 4.
Following flood damage to local home that was covered by an Aegis insurance policy during Hurricane Isaac Prestige developed a renovation plan in the amount of $60,287. The plaintiff claims that the defendant’s work included electrical, plumbing and mechanical work that included the use of open flames. Prestige is alleged to have caught fire to the home insured by Aegis during the renovations that caused $66,121.53 in damages.
The defendant is accused of negligence and liability for failing to supervise actions of employees, failing to undertake work in a manner designed to prevent damage and failing to secure property from fire damage.
Damages in the amount of $66,121.53 are sought by the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
