Fall over wheelchair ramp results in lawsuit against Applebee’s

GRETNA – A woman is suing a local chain restaurant for injuries she allegedly received in a fall over a wheelchair ramp.

Gina A. Sensebe, and husband Joseph, filed suit against Southern River Restaurants in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 5.

Sensebe claims she visited the Applebee’s, owned by Southern River Restaurants and located at 1000 W. Esplanade in Kenner, where she tripped over a wheelchair ramp and fell to the pavement while trying to step up to the sidewalk near the building’s entrance. The plaintiff alleges that she suffered personal injuries in the incident including a torn tendon in her left foot.

The defendant is accused of being liable for the plaintiff’s damages.

Damages not to exceed $74,999 are sought for medical bills, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, anatomical impairment and loss of enjoyment of life.

Sensebe is represented by attorney James Maher III of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
