Harrah’s Casino sued by man who alleges he was injured when slot machine fell on him

NEW ORLEANS— A man claims that while playing a slot machine in Harrah’s Casino the machine fell on top of him.

Lionel Preston filed suit against Harrah’s Casino, Harrah’s New Orleans, Harrah’s Casino New Orleans, Harrah’s Operating Company Inc., Harrah’s New Orleans Management Company, Harrah’s Jazz Company and Caesar’s Entertainment Operating Company Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

The plaintiff’s petition for damages states that while playing on a slot machine in the casino in October 2012, the machine suddenly fell on top of him.

The defendants are accused of allowing the machine to fall or break loose and injure the plaintiff and for failing to exercise reasonable care to prevent, maintain, repair or remove the machine, thereby ensuring the safety of the patrons.

An undisclosed amount in damages is sought for the defendants’ alleged negligence for pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of life’s pleasures, disability, medical expenses, loss of wages, and loss of earning capacity.

Preston is represented by Stephen R. Rue of Stephen Rue & Associates LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Michael G. Bagneris.
