GRETNA – A local property owner is suing Jefferson Parish and a demolition contractor for alleged code violations.

Kevin Marrone filed suit against Parish of Jefferson and Durr Heavy Construction LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 3.

Marrone asserts that Durr Construction, under instructions from Jefferson Parish, demolished a common wall located at 1637 Alexander Court in Gretna on Nov. 1, 2012. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to remove a slab during the demolition in violation of parish code.

The defendant is accused of leaving the plaintiff in a precarious position.

The plaintiff seeks to compel the defendants to come into compliance.

Marrone is represented by Kenneth E. Pickering of Pickering & Cotogno of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.

Case no. 733-504.
