GRETNA – A former employee of an area waste removal company is suing, claiming he was sexually harassed on a repeated basis by female co-worker.
Brandon Johnson filed suit against Progressive Waste Solutions of Louisiana Inc. and Mary Williams in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 3.
Johnson alleges that shortly after he became employed by Progressive Waste Solutions on May 20, Williams began sexually harassing him including harassing phone calls, pressuring him for sex and hugging him.
According to the lawsuit, on June 15 the plaintiff claims that he and Williams were in a broken down truck awaiting service when Williams straddled him and began hugging and kissing him.
Johnson claims following the incident he filed a complaint with management at Progressive Waste Solutions, which they failed to investigate, the suit alleges.
The plaintiff claims he resigned from Progressive Waste Solutions shortly after the defendant put him in a headlock in the break room at work.
The defendant is accused of sexual harassment, violation of state law, intentional infliction of emotional distress, failing to supervise employees, assault and battery.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for emotional pain and suffering, lost wages and medical bills.
Johnson is represented by Myles Steib of Metairie-based Gardner & Steib LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
Case no. 733-428.
