GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a shopper who alleges she received severe injuries in a fall on the store’s premises.
Courtney Crockett filed suit against Budget Saver and Hermitage Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 15.
Crockett claims she was shopping for groceries and other household products at the Budget Saver located at 1900 Lafayette St. in Gretna. The plaintiff asserts that as she was walking down one of the aisles she slipped in a liquid substance that had spilled on the floor. Crockett alleges she received several injuries in the fall.
The defendant is accused of having an unreasonably dangerous condition on its premises, creating an unreasonably dangerous condition, having constructive notice of an unreasonably condition, failing to inspect and monitor its store and failing to act with reasonable care and prudence.
Damages not to exceed $75,000 is sought for back strain, ankle strain, knee inflammation, knee strain and mental anguish.
Crockett is represented by medicine, drugs, hospitalization, attendant and support care, loss wages, loss of wage earning capacity, pain and suffering, residual disabilities, mental anguish and emotional upset.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
