GRETNA – An anesthesiologist who was named as a defendant in a medical malpractice lawsuit is suing his former employer and the law firm that defended him.
Dr. Christopher Cougle filed suit against C. William Bradley Jr.; Bradley, Murchison, Kelly & Shea LLC; LAMMICO Insurance Agency Inc.; Parish Anesthesia Associates Ltd. and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 18.
Cougle alleges that in 2010 Parish Anesthesia Associates Ltd. hired Bradley, Murchison, Kelly & Shea LLC to represent him when he was sued for medical malpractice. The plaintiff asserts that Bradley, a partner at the law firm, acted in the best interest of Parish Anesthesia Associates Ltd. rather than Cougle for whom he was hired to provide defense. Cougle claims that Bradley failed to introduce evidence and testimony in his favor that would have implicated a nurse in the complications that resulted in the medical malpractice suit.
The defendant is accused of legal malpractice.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for adverse ruling by medical review panel, emotional damages and mental distress.
Cougle is representing himself pro se in the case.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
Case no. 733-986.
