GRETNA – A roofing company is being sued by a pharmacy and its owners after a roof blew off during a hurricane and more than $400,000 in damage was sustained.
Nautilus Insurance Company, Dean M. Elazab, Bonnine R. Elazab and First Call Pharmacy filed suit against Triangle Roofing LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 5.
First Call Pharmacy located at 1500 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie owned by the Elazab’s and their insurers allege that they contracted with Triangle Roofing on Sept. 3, 2008 to remove the existing roof on their business and replace it with a new one. The plaintiffs claim that on Aug. 29, 2012 the roof installed by the defendants was blown off when Hurricane Isaac hit the area. First Call Pharmacy asserts that the roof would not have blown off the building and caused severe property damage had it been installed properly.
Due to the damages Nautilus Insurance Company paid the Elazabs and First Call Pharmacy $404,946.61 for property damage.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly install the new roof, using an insufficient amount of adhesive on the roof, improperly installing the perimeter edge and failing to perform the installation of the new roof in a professional land workmanlike manner.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for property damage.
The plaintiffs are represented by Christopher R. Teske of New Orleans-based Gieger, Laborde & Laperouse.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
Case no. 735-238.
