GRETNA – A corporate hardware store is being sued by a customer who claims he was injured in a fall over a sign.
Randolph Crawford filed suit against Home Depot USA Inc. and its insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 12.
Crawford alleges that he was shopping at the Home Depot located at 62 Westbank Expressway in Gretna when he tripped over a wooden sign in the middle of a walkway. The plaintiff asserts he was injured in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a reasonably safe place for its patrons, failing to take necessary measures to protect the safety of patrons, failing to properly maintain the premises, failing to warn patrons of danger and failing to take steps to avoid the accident.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, permanent disability, loss of consortium, loss of enjoyment of life, penalties and attorney’s fees.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
