GRETNA – A Metairie couple is suing a company that was contracted to elevate their home after the work allegedly resulted in property damage.
Charles E. and Beatrice H. Strain filed suit against Southern Elevations and Shoring Inc. and Kinsdale Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 16.
The Strains assert that they contracted with Southern Elevations and Shoring Inc. to elevate their home located at 1805 Akron Ave. in Metairie and that work began on the property on May 17. The plaintiffs claim that when the defendants began to lift the slab foundation it caused the concrete to break and crack, which resulted in the home being unlevel. The Strains allege that the work resulted in various damage including to their bricks, doors, windows, ceilings, sheet rock, gutters and hallways.
The defendant is accused of causing significant property damage.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for property damages, emotional distress, court costs and attorney fees.
The Strains are represented by William P. Connick of Metairie-based Connick and Connick LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.
