GRETNA – A home healthcare company is being sued by a former employee who claims she is owed back pay and vacation time she had accrued before she was laid off.
Denise J. Williams filed suit against Central Home Health LLC, Brian W. Bruno and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 19.
Williams alleges that she was first employed by Central Home Health on Dec. 1, 2004 and was laid off after more than 10 years on Jan. 31. The plaintiff asserts that when she was released from her employment she was not promptly compensated, in violation of state law. The plaintiff claims that she is owed all amounts that were due in her next pay period within 15 days and 120 vacation hours at $13 per hour for a total of $1,560.85. Williams asserts she has made numerous demands for the payment, but that the defendants have continued to deny paying her the amount requested.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for complete payment, including penalties, and attorney’s fees.
Williams is represented by Joyce D. Young of the Law Offices of Ginart & Jones.
The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
Case no. 738-579.
