GRETNA – A man who was driving a friend’s car that he allegedly crashed into a home is being sued by the home's insurer.
Certain Underwriters at Lloyds London filed suit against Manuel Nunez and Progressive Direct Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 29.
Lloyds London asserts it provided property insurance on a home located at 133 Cameron Drive in Gretna when a borrowed vehicle driven by Nunez collided with the home. The plaintiff claims the defendant caused $14,638.68 in damages.
Lloyds London alleges because Nunez was operating the vehicle with the owner’s permission the auto insurer should also be liable.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a proper lookout, failing to maintain control of the vehicle and failing to remain attentive while driving the vehicle.
Damages in the amount of $14,638.68 is sought by the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
