DoubleTree motel sued by guest allegedly injured when exiting elevator

GRETNA – A local motel is being sued by a guest who claims she was injured after tripping and falling while exiting an elevator.

Deena Wesenberg filed suit against New Orleans Airport Motel Associates LLC, DoubleTree Hilton New Orleans Airport and Travelers Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 30.

Wesenberg alleges that she was staying at the DoubleTree Hotel located at 2150 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Kenner when she attempted to exit an elevator that was not flush with the floor when she tripped and fell to the floor. The plaintiff asserts that she received severe injuries in the incident that required medical attention.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the elevator in a safe working order, failing to properly inspect and service the elevator, failing to provide a safe premises, failing to provide a safe entrance and exit and failing to warn of an unreasonably dangerous condition.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for severe and painful injuries to her mind, medical treatment, mental anguish, loss of proper sleep and medication.

Wesenberg is represented by Michael Brandner of the New Orleans-based Brandner Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
