Yogurt stand, mall sued by woman allegedly injured after slip and fall in running water

GRETNA – A mall customer claims she was seriously injured after slipping and falling in running water.

Shannon Arroliga filed suit against Greater Lakeside Corp., Rondelyn Corporation, Todd’s Famous Frozen Yogurt and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 14.

Arroliga alleges on July 13, 2013 she was walking on a public walkway at the Lakeside Shopping Center near Todd’s Famous Frozen Yogurt when she slipped and fell in running water. The plaintiff claims she fell forward on her right leg and caught herself with her left hand resulting in serious injuries to her ankle, pelvic area, back and wrist. Arroliga contends she reported the incident to Lakeside Mall security, but did not seek medical attention until later.

The defendant is accused of failing to remove all material from the floor, failing to act as a reasonable and prudent person and failing to provide proper medial care.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, metnal pain and suffering, medical expenses and loss of earning capacity.

Arroliga is represented by Lance V. Licciardi of Chalmette-based Licciardi & Nunez.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.
