GRETNA – A woman who claims she was injured when an employee of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office ran a red light and crashed into her vehicle is suing.
Barbara Lamy filed suit against Louis Frost and Newell Normand in his official capacity as Sheriff for the Parish of Jefferson in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 21.
Lamy alleges that on Aug. 10, 2013 she was driving southbound on Elise Ave. in Metairie when Frost, in his capacity as an employee of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, ran a red light and collided with her vehicle in an SUV. The plaintiff contends that she suffered injuries to her back in the incident.
The defendant is accused of disregarding a red traffic signal, failing to see what should have been seen and failing to maintain control of his vehicle.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life.
Lamy is represented by Timothy K. Lamy of New Orleans-based Barker, Boudreaux, Lamy & Foley.
The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
