GRETNA – A concrete contractor is being sued by a homeowner who claims he was shocked while a worker was servicing his swimming pool.
Kevin Cross filed suit against Gurley’s Concrete in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 28.
Cross claims that Gurley’s Concrete was servicing his swimming pool located at 117 Moss Lane in River Ridge while he was wading the pool to replace a pool light. The plaintiff alleges that as he was in the pool an employee of Gurley’s Concrete caused water to flow into a trench dug into the pool and contacted live electrical wiring causing the plaintiff to receive an electric shock. Cross asserts he received severe injuries to his lower back, neck, feet and right eye in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition, failing to inspect the premises, failing to provide adequately trained personnel, failing to properly warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition, failing to see what should have been seen, failing to properly warn plaintiff of a dangerous condition, failing to exercise reasonable care, failing to see and breaking electrical conduit and failing to provide a safe place to work.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses.
