GRETNA – A home contractor is being sued for allegedly completing shoddy work on a home following a hurricane that resulted in further damage to the property.

Diane Bourgeois filed suit against American Roofing and Construction LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 15.

Bourgeois alleges she contracted with American Roofing and Construction to repair her home located at 4971 Deborah Ann Drive in Barataria after it was damaged by wind and flood waters after Hurricane Isaac hit the area. The plaintiff asserts that the defendant began making repairs on the property on October 2012 and completed work in April 2013. However, Bourgeois contends that the repairs completed by American Roofing and Construction were done improperly and resulted in further damage to the home.

The defendant is accused of negligence and breach of contract.

Damages in excess of $50,000 are sought by the plaintiffs for deterioration of the property, failing to perform contracted repairs and diminution in value of the property.

Bourgeois is represented by Tiffany R. Christian of New Orleans-based Binegar Christian LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.

Case no. 741-316.
