NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish man is suing Hilton Hotels for its alleged negligence resulting in his fall and subsequent injury in the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel parking garage.
Matthew James filed suit against the Hilton New Orleans Corporation in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 8.
James alleges that on Aug. 10, 2013, he was a patron at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel and was walking through the parking garage located at 2 Poydras Street in New Orleans. The plaintiff claims that as he was walking through the garage, he tripped and fell on metal piping that was situated between the incoming and outgoing traffic.
James contests that Hilton created a hazardous condition in its parking garage and are liable for the injuries he sustained because of the fall.
The defendant is accused of negligence, including failing to warn of a dangerous condition and failing to inspect the premises.
The plaintiff seeks an unknown amount in damages for mental and physical pain and suffering, physical disability and medical expenses.

The case has been assigned to District N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
