GRETNA – A mother is accusing a daycare center where her daughter was formerly enrolled for allegedly mistreating her.
Katherine Houin, individually and on behalf of her minor daughter, filed suit against Arden Cahill Academy Inc., State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, Laura Bloom Martin, Tammy Tapia, Suzanne Martinez and Toshiba Allen in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 3.
Houin alleges that her two-year-old daughter was enrolled at Arden Cahill Academy from October 2013 through Feb. 27, 2014. The plaintiff contends that during that time her daughter was was subjected to mistreatment including being locked in a dark storage closet by one of her teachers, being struck in the head by a teacher and forced to take her clothes off in front of an entire class. Houin asserts that due to the incidents her daughter has entered counseling and treatment and is still being treated on a nearly weekly basis.
The defendant is accused of failing to provide competent employees, failing to provide a sufficient number of employees, failing to properly train employees, failing to adequately provide for the plaintiffs’ minor child and failing to exercise due care and caution.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for psychological care, emotional pain and suffering, post traumatic stress and anxiety disorder and impairment in relationships.
