GRETNA – A local hardware store is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured when one of its employees dropped a scanner on her foot.
Irma Melancon filed suit against Home Depot U.S.A. Inc., an unknown employee and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 6.
Melancon alleges that she was shopping at the Home Depot located at 5151 Citrus Blvd. in Harahan on Sept. 8 when an unknown store employee dropped a radio scanner on her foot. The plaintiff contends she was injured in the incident.
The defendant is accused of causing an object to fall on the plaintiff, failing to move merchandise in a safe manner, failing to prevent injury to a customer, failing to warn customers, filing to place barricade signs and failing to maintain a general standard of care.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, distress, annoyance, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and residual disability.
