Freeman Expositions sued for more than $50K after woman’s alleged fall on debris

Trip and fall case lost

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing several companies for their alleged role in causing her to fall and sustain injury within the premises of a local business.

Lane O'Brien, and husband Brian, filed suit against Freeman Expositions Inc., Freeman Decorating Co., Freeman Decorating Services Inc., Freeman Audio Visual Solutions Inc. and 3501 North Causeway Associates in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

O'Brien claims that she was patronizing Freeman Expositions at 1000 Elmwood Park Blvd. in New Orleans when she fell onto "remnants" and sustained injuries to her back and knees. The plaintiffs assert that the objects were neglected by Freeman.

The defendants are accused of negligence, including failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition and failing to warn patrons of a hazardous condition.

The plaintiffs are seeking over $50,000 in damages for past, present, and future physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages, medical expenses and loss of consortium.

Lane and Brian O'Brien are represented by Joseph M. Bruno Jr. of New Orleans-based Bruno & Bruno.

The case has been assigned to District D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.

Case no. 2014-08574.
