Alleged fall in puddle of water at Treasure Chest Casino buffet results in lawsuit

GRETNA – A local casino is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured in a fall at its buffet.

Noel B. Thomas filed suit against Treasure Chest Casino LLC, Boyd Gaming Corporation and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 12.

Thomas claims that on Sept. 14, 2013 she was a patron at the Treasure Chest Casino located at 5050 Williams Blvd. in Kenner when she was filling a plate with food at the casino’s buffet she slipped in a puddle of water near the bread station. The plaintiff alleges she was received severe injuries in the incident including to her neck, back, hip and knee.

The defendant is accused of failing to monitor the buffet area, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to warn guests of any water spillage and failing to exercise due care and caution.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and discomfort, keen mental anguish, humiliation, embarrassment, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

Thomas is represented by attorney Clifford E. Poche APLC of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
