Terminix sued by commercial property for allegedly not protecting building from termite infestation

GRETNA – A pest control company is being sued by a customer for allegedly not properly protecting its commercial property from a termite infestation that resulted in serious damages.

2317 Veterans LLC filed suit against Terminix Service Company Incorporated and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 9.

The plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 9, 2009, it entered into a contract with Terminix to provide pest control services, specifically to protect against and prevent termite infestation and damage, at its commercial building located at 2317 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Kenner.

The plaintiff asserts that on Feb. 13, 2014, it discovered extensive termite damage that had not been properly treated or prevented by Terminix.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for damages and costs to repair the premises, diminution in property value, inconvenience, aggravation, embarrassment, loss of enjoyment and remediation expenses.

2317 Veterans is represented by attorney Steven T. Richard of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
