Former Jefferson Parish employees accused of libel, malicious prosecution against supervisor

Jpa seal

GRETNA – A lawsuit filed against two former Jefferson Parish employees accuses them of libel, slander and malicious prosecution against their former supervisor.

Donald Hogan Jr. filed suit against Andrea Williams and Kenneth Lemeux in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 26.

Hogan alleges the defendants filed a lawsuit against Hogan, Assistant Director of Jefferson Parish Streets Department, and Randy Nicholson, Director of Jefferson Parish Streets Department, accusing them of violating their civil rights through discrimination leading up to their termination. The plaintiff contends Williams and Lemeux wrongfully included him in the litigation and he was later released from the lawsuit without paying any damages. Further, Hogan asserts the defendants were actually terminated from the Jefferson Parish Streets Department for legitimate disciplinary reasons and allegations of discrimination by the defendants in that case were false.

The plaintiff claims the purpose behind the discrimination lawsuit was to intentional harm his reputation, hinder his ability to advance professionally and accuse him criminal acts while on the job.

The defendants are accused of violating the Louisiana Whistleblower statutes, libel, slander and malicious prosecution.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for emotional distress and financial injury.

Hogan is represented by attorney John-Michael Lawrence of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.

Case no. 747-249.
