Jeweler sues customer for allege default on payments

GRETNA – A woman who allegedly defaulted on a payment plan she initiated with a jeweler is being sued.

Sterling Jewelers Inc. and Jared The Galleria of Jewelry filed suit against Karnella McMillan in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 2.

Sterling Jewelers Inc. and Jared The Galleria of Jewelry claim they entered into a contract with McMillan to provide her a loan in the amount of $2,279.52 plus 24.99 percent interest to finance a jewelry purchase. The plaintiffs allege the defendant has defaulted on the loan and still owes them the entire amount they provided her.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $2,279.52 plus attorney’s fees is sought by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiff are represented by Sarena Y. Gaylor of New Orleans-based Couch, Conville & Blitt LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
