A woman is suing Herzing University and a former employer, alleging racial discrimination.

Myeshia S. Ambrose-Frazier filed a lawsuit filed April 23 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Herzing Inc., Herzing University, and Jason Morgan, citing racial discrimination.

The complaint states Ambrose-Frazier, an African-American female, started working for Herzing Dec. 6, 2006, and "worked without incident" until Morgan, a white man, became her boss. "Almost immediately, Morgan exhibited strange and alienating behavior toward the black employees at Herzing" the suit states. "He told black employees he feared them and he hated for black people to look at him. He told all black workers to stay away and wanted nothing to do with them."

When layoffs happened, the lawsuit states, only black workers were laid off. When Ambrose-Frazier complained about "the blatant race discrimination and harassment, she was written up and terminated for her complaints of intentional employment discrimination," the suit states.

Ambrose-Frazier seeks: "any and all damages allowed under" state and federal laws; loss of wages, earnings and earning potential; attorney fees; penalties; court costs; and interest.

She is represented by attorney Jean-Paul Robert of Gonzales.
