GRETNA – A local coffee shop is being sued by a customer who claims she was knocked to the ground and injured when an employee violently opened the kitchen door into her.
Sandra Maranto filed suit against Puccino’s Inc. and Puccino’s The Real Coffee of Italy in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 20.
Maranto alleges she was a customer at Puccino’s on March 24, 2014 and was entering the ladies room when an employee aggressively opened the kitchen door into her knocking her to the floor. The plaintiff contends she was severely injured in the incident and has since had to undergo medical treatment.
The defendant is accused of not providing safe entrance and exit for customers, failing to properly inspect the premises to ensure, failing to discover an unreasonably dangerous condition, failing to protect the plaintiff form unreasonable risks, failing to look before opening the door, failing to supervise, negligence and failing to train employees.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical treatment, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of sleep, medical expenses, lost wages, disability, loss of lifestyle and property damage.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Danyelle M. Taylor.
