GRETNA – A local casino is being sued by a patron who was eating at its buffet when she was allegedly injured after being knocked to the ground by an employee.
Ester Meladine, and husband Raymond, filed suit against Pinnacle Entertainment Inc., Boomtown LLC, Louisiana A-1 Gaming, a Louisiana Partnership in Commended, Boomtown Casino New Orleans and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 30.
Meladine asserts that on April 18, 2014 she was eating at the Bayou Market buffet located within the Boomtown Casino at 4132 Peters Road in Harvey. The plaintiff claims she was grabbing a clean plate from the buffet when a restaurant employee ran into her knocking her to the floor. Meladine alleges she received injuries to her neck, back and body in the incident and still suffers from headaches.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a reasonably safe place for visitors, failing to take necessary measures to protect safety of visitors, failing to see what should have been seen, failing to properly maintain and supervise the premises and failing to take steps to avoid the incident.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
