Woman alleging injury in dog attack sue animal's owner

Pitbull

GRETNA – A woman who claims she was severely injured when a dog attacked her is suing the animal’s owner.

Christine St. Blanc filed suit against Joseph Joia in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 8.

St. Blanc contends she was leaving a relative’s home on Cottonwood Drive in Marrero on June 10, 2014 when Joia’s dog attacked her. The plaintiff asserts the defendant’s dog was not on a leash at the time of the incident and she did nothing to provoke the attack.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep the dog on a leash, failing to properly train the dog, failing to warn of the danger, failing to keep the dog in a kennel and failing to restrain the dog at all.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

St. Blanc is represented by Julie-Ann A. Duhe of New Orleans-based The Keating Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

Case no. 748-468.
