GRETNA – A former salesman for a hardwood flooring store is suing for $49,761.62 in back wages.
Dustin Manning filed suit against A-Mar Interiors Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 14.
Manning alleges he was hired by A-Mar Interiors Inc. in October 2013 at a wage of $36,000 a year as well as commissions to sell products and services for the store, including the installation of hardwood flooring. The plaintiff contends from January to June 2014 the prices of some of the services and products he had sold to customers were later decreased in the store’s computer system, thus lowering his commission payments. Manning asserts that because the sales price on six jobs was decreased he was shorted $49,761.62 in commission payments. In addition, the plaintiff claims his health insurance was credited against his commission at a price of $450 a month, but that A-Mar Interiors Inc. informed him in January 2015 he would no longer be eligible to receive the health insurance payment because he was out of commission.
The defendant is accused of breaching the Louisiana Wage Payment Act.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for penalty wages and attorney’s fees.
Manning is represented by attorney Reginald J. Laurent of Slidell.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
Case no. 748-738.
