BATON ROUGE – A woman is suing a doctor and a medical corporation after she underwent a simple procedure that she claims left her permanently injured.
Catherine Lynn Soileau Page filed suit against Narayanan Deepak Karayil Thekkoott M.D. and Cardiovascular Institute of the South in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 7.
According to court records, on Feb. 6, 2012, Page claims she underwent an angiogram performed by Dr. Deepak at 6550 Main St. in Zachary, where he accessed the plaintiff’s left artery. Page states after the procedure she complained about severe pain, numbness, swelling, discoloration and tightness in her arms and that Dr. Deepak failed to check the plaintiff's complaints, leaving her severely injured.
As a result, of the defendant negligence Page contends she suffered serious injuries such as radical artery occlusion, internal bleeding, median nerve injury, neuropraxic pain syndrome, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and complex regional pain syndrome.
According to the lawsuit, a medical review panel concluded on Jan. 13 that Dr. Deepak and Cardiovascular Institute of the South failed to comply with the proper standard of care in their treatment of the plaintiff.
The defendant is accused of failing to perform the correct procedures, failing to order the appropriate diagnostics testing, failing to discover the true nature of the injury, misdiagnosis her injury and condition, failing to refer her on time to an appropriate specialist for testing and failing to make the appropriate treatment in a timely manner.
