NEW ORLEANS – A local construction company and its owner are being sued for allegedly impersonating a competitor and potentially defrauding at least one homeowner while doing so.
Al Turner, individually, and Turner & Turner Contracting LLC filed suit against Earin Dwayne Bridges, individually, and Bridges Builders Construction LLC in Orleans Parish Civil District Court on April 13.
Turner contends that on April 19, 2014, he received a letter from a New Orleans attorney alerting him to possible fraud on behalf of his company against a New Orleans homeowner. However, the plaintiff asserts that the homeowner in question may have actually been contracting with Bridges and Bridges Builders Construction LLC under the Turner & Turner Contracting name. Turner claims he contacted Bridges via telephone who told him that he had in fact been inappropriately using the Turner & Turner Contracting name and impersonating them to enter into several home contracts with homeowners.
The plaintiff says that misrepresentations by the defendant have harmed his business.
The defendant is accused of misrepresentation, suppression of the truth, obtaining an unjust advantage and damage to reputation and business name.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought by the plaintiff.
Turner is represented by Deirdre Fuller of Alexandria-based Fuller Law Firm LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
Case no. 2015-03467.
