Cox Communications sued by woman alleging injury in trip over exposed wire

GRETNA – A local cable provider is being sued by a woman who claims she received severe and disabling injuries in a trip over an exposed cable.

Carolyn Woolridge filed suit against Cox Communications Louisiana LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 4.

Woolridge alleges that on June 7, 2014 she left her apartment located at 2209 Argyll St. in Harvey and tripped over cable wire on the ground belonging to Cox Communications. The plaintiff contends she suffered severe and disabling injuries in the incident to her head, neck, back and limbs.

The defendant is accused of creating a dangerous condition, failing to keep and maintain its premises free from defect, employing careless workers, failing to train employees, failing to inspect the premises, maintaining an inherent danger and failing to warn of an inherent danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, pain and suffering and income loss.

Woolridge is represented by Stephen F. Armbruster of New Orleans-based Scheuermann and Jones LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
