Nail salon sued by woman claiming she contracted serious infection from pedicure

GRETNA – A nail salon is being sued by a woman who claims she contracted a serious infection in her foot after receiving a pedicure.

Diane Clark filed suit against State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, McCoy Nguyen LLC and Sally’s Nail Salon in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 11.

Clark alleges that on May 21, 2014 she received a pedicure at Sally’s Nail Salon and within a day of receiving the treatment her left foot swelled up and became reddish in color and painful. The plaintiff contends she ultimately was hospitalized due to a serious cellulitis infection. Clark asserts the infection was caused by the negligence of the defendants.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly sanitize equipment, failing to properly and adequately clean and change liquid, failing to act in a reasonable and prudent manner, failing to act as a reasonable and prudent person and failing to establish proper policies and procedures to avoid infections.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, neurosis, pain and suffering, emotional trauma, mental anguish, lost wages and loss of earning capacity.

Clark is represented by attorney Richard V. Kohnke of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
