Electrical wire causes visitor at apartment building to trip and fall

GRETNA – An apartment building owner is being sued by a woman who claims she injured herself after tripping and falling on an exposed electrical wire.

Rosa Bates filed suit against Tonti Development Corporation, Mark Twain II Apartments and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 19.

Bates contends that on May 20, 2014 she was visiting the Mark Twain II Apartments when she tripped and fell on exposed wiring. The plaintiff asserts she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe place, failing to warn of unsafe conditions and ruination of property.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering and disability.

Bates is represented by attorney Tim L. Fields of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
