Insurance company sues man for allegedly stealing father’s boat

GRETNA – An insurance company is suing a man who allegedly stole his father’s boat.

Progressive Premier Insurance Company of Illinois filed suit against Joe Randolph Foster in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 27.

The plaintiff claims it insured a boat owned by Joseph Foster that was reported stolen to the Temple Police Department. Progressive Premier Insurance Company of Illinois claims the defendant stole the boat on Jan. 1, 2012. The plaintiff contends that because it provided an insurance policy on the stolen boat it had to pay a claim for its value of $20,185.

The defendant is accused of conversion theft, property damage and fraud.

Damages in the amount of $20,185 is sought by the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is represented by Derrick M. Shelton of the New Orleans-based Law Offices of Derrick M. Shelton LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.

Case no. 750-104.
