Nissan dealership sued by grandfather alleging he was injured in fall off curb

GRETNA – A local car dealer is being sued by a man who claims he was injured after he fell when stepping off a curb at their dealership.

James Wilson Jr. filed suit against Ray Brandt Nissan Inc. and Altruist North America Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 28.

Wilson claims he was car shopping with his grandchildren at Ray Brandt Nissan located at 4000 Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey. The plaintiff alleges he stepped off a curb while at the dealership and fell to he pavement. Wilson contends he received severe injuries to his left knee and a fractured hip. Wilson asserts that due to the incident he has had to receive medical care and has been confined to a nursing home.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe place, failing to keep pathways marked, failing to correct a dangerous condition and failing to warn of a danger.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, mental anguish, medical expenses and surgical expenses.

Wilson is represented by Gilbert V. Andry IV of New Orleans-based The Andry Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
