A Mississippi resident is suing a Louisiana business and its owners, alleging negligence in connection with a 2014 work-related injury attributed to poor staffing.

Harold B. Lott Jr. sued L.H. Fournier & Associates Inc., Lane P. Fourner, and Hollie L. Fournier, all of Cut Off, La., in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on July 15 alleging severe injuries and losses following an accident aboard the defendants’ marine vessel in July 2014.

According to the court filing, the plaintiff sustained injuries when he was working as a well operator for Woodgroup PSN on the defendants’ property on or about July 14, 2014.

The suit states that during a “swing transfer” from the well to marine vessel Lanie Marie, there was no crew member present to secure Lott and he allegedly fell onto the deck of the vessel, sustaining right knee injuries.

According to the suit, the vessel was insufficiently staffed and its crew improperly trained. The complaint states that the crew boat was owned and operated by the defendants.

The plaintiff complains of physical pain, suffering and anguish, loss of wages and benefits, disability and medical expenses.

Requesting compensation, interest, attorneys' fees, expenses, and court costs, the plaintiff is represented by Jonathan Adams and Peter Koeppel of Koeppel Traylor in New Orleans.
