Woman sues over alleged injuries from falling though set of stairs

GRETNA – A woman who claims she was severely injured after falling through a set of stairs is suing the owner of the property where the incident allegedly occurred.

Carolyn Polk filed suit against Victoria Cage in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 18.

Polk claims she was visiting a property located at 801 South Bengal Road in Metairie owned by Cage and was walking down the property’s stairs when she fell through them. The plaintiff alleges she received severe injuries in the incident to her back which required medical care. Polk contends the defective state of the stairs resulted in her injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe premises, failing to provide safe steps and violation of state law.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional pain and suffering and medical bills.

Cage is represented by attorney Muriel O. Van Horn of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
