GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a patron who claims she was injured in a slip and fall while exiting the store.
Roslyn Heard filed suit against Rosue’s Enterprises, Rouse’s Market and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 25.
Heard contends she was exiting the Rouse’s Market located at 1000 W. Esplanade in Kenner on July 18, 2014 when she slipped on water on the floor and fell. The plaintiff asserts the water accumulated due to leaks in the building's roof and walls.
The defendant is accused of failing to place wet floor hazard sign in the area, failing to warn of the hazard, allowing hazard to exist and failing to use floor mats to negate the risk of a slip.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, medical expenses and pain and suffering.
Heard is represented by Kenny M. Charbonnet of New Orleans-based Charbonnet Law Firm LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
Case no. 750-973.
