GRETNA – A service garage is being sued by a man who claims his wheel fell off his truck after the garage serviced his tires.
Gustavo Sanchez-Pavon filed suit against The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Goodyear Auto Service Center and Wayne Jackson in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 25.
Sanchez-Pavon alleges that on June 23, 2014 he brought his 1997 Dodge Ram truck to the Goodyear Auto Service Center in Kenner where they removed all four of his tires, blanked and rotated them. The plaintiff contends that Jackson inspected the work and verified the job was done properly. However, Sanchez-Pavon asserts three days after the service was competed he was driving his vehicle on I-10 westbound in East Baton Rouge Parish when his right front tire flew off the the truck, causing him to crash. The plaintiff claims he suffered severe and disabling injuries in the incident including to his head, neck, chest, abdomen, hips and back.
The defendant is accused of failing to properly inspect the vehicle’s tires, failing to properly balance the tires, failing to secure the tires and violating the rules of the road.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, loss of wage earning capacity, pain and suffering, disabilities, mental anguish, emotional upset, loss of enjoyment of life, rehabilitation, support care and property damage.
