GRETNA – A laborer is suing a property owner after he was allegedly injured after stepping into a hole cut in the floor.
James Montalbine Jr. filed suit against Mark Andrews, M&M Repairs & Electrical and Atlantic Cos. Inc. Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 1.
Montalbine contends he was working on July 3, 2014 at a property located at 10 Royal Palm Blvd. in Kenner where he was installing wood flooring. The plaintiff asserts that during the course of his work he stepped in a hole cut in the floor. Montalbine claims he suffered severe and painful injuries in the incident for which he has had to undergo medical treatment.
The defendant is accused of creating a hole in the floor, negligently removing scaffolding, creating an unsafe work environment, failing to properly supervise work, failing to provide safe entrance and exit of property and failing to warn of danger.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages, disability and loss of lifestyle.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
