Oil rig worker accuses two transport vessels of negligence

NEW ORLEANS – A Louisiana man says two vessels are liable for injuries he suffered on the job.

Christopher Gobert filed a lawsuit Nov. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Kevin Gros Consulting & Marine Services Inc. and T.E. Marine Inc., alleging liability for workplace injuries.

While aboard the marine vessel Alex Gros II on Dec. 3, 2013, the suit says Gobert, who worked for Greene’s Energy, was being transported to an offshore platform in East Cameron 344. To transfer to the platform, the claim states that Gobert was required to jump from the Alex Gros to the Alicia Sue, a vessel owned by T.E. Marine.

According to the complaint, Gobert injured his groin, lower back and hip when he attempted to jump from one vessel to the next. The suit says both defendants are liable for his injuries because they failed to provide a safe, secure method for transfer of personnel.

Gobert seeks reimbursement for past and future medical expenses, loss of income and future earning capacity, and other damages to be proven at trial, as well as litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Mark L. Riley of The Glenn Armentor Law Corp. in Lafayette.
