NEW ORLEANS – Hydratight Operations, a St. John the Baptist Parish company being sued for damages by an Oklahoma worker, has filed a petition to move the case to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
The case was originally filed in the 40th Judicial District Court.
Hydratight filed the removal petition Dec. 4 because the Eastern District Court has statutory jurisdiction in the case since the plaintiff and defendant are in different states.
Hanger’s original petition for damages was filed Oct. 29 for workplace injuries he allegedly suffered when fluid leaking from a tensioning device punctured his forearm. According to the complaint, Hanger suffered pain, deformity and disfigurement, lost wages, and reduced earning capacity from his injuries. Hanger seeks damages of more than $75,000, plus interests and litigation fees.
Hydratight is represented by Thomas E. Schwab of New Orleans.
