NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish man is suing Wal-Mart, claiming he was injured by a pallet of 50-pound bags of salt.

Donald Walker filed a lawsuit Jan. 14 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Walker was struck while shopping at the Slidell Walmart on April 30 when a pallet of 50-pound bags of salt collapsed, falling on his head, shoulders, arms, elbows and upper extremities. Walker seeks damages of $1.5 million for pain and suffering, lost wages and past and future medical expenses, plus legal costs. He is represented by attorneys Thomas M. Discon, Scott G. Discon and Charlotte Discon of the Discon Law Firm in Mandeville.
