NEW ORLEANS – A Plaquemines Parish man alleges his boat was sunk by a submerged, unmarked craft in Garden Island Bay, injuring him and a passenger.

Hosea Wilson and Shajaun Turner filed a lawsuit Jan. 19 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Chevron USA Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, as Wilson and Turner were aboard a 36-foot Newton shrimp boat on March 19 in Garden Island Bay in the Parish of Plaquemines, they collided with an unmarked, submerged vessel owned by Chevron. Wilson’s boat sustained heavy hull damage, the suit claims, injuring the plaintiffs and causing the boat to sink.

The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $75,000, plus litigation costs. They are represented by attorney Stephen P. Bruno of Bruno & Bruno LLP in New Orleans.
