Assistant managers claim they were not paid overtime compensation

BATON ROUGE – Assistant managers of a major fast food chain are collectively suing for claims of unpaid overtime compensation, on behalf of themselves and all others similarly situated.

Yana Anderson and Lori Veal, individually and on behalf of all other similarly situated current and former employees, filed a lawsuit on Feb. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Blue Victory Holdings Inc., Star Brands LLC, Star Brands II LLC, Star Brands III LLC, Star Brands IV LLC, Steenu G. Kasturi, John M. Meyer Jr., Yannick Bastien, Owen P. Thompson, Fred D. Alexander, Paul S. Driscoll, Victor L. Peeples and Howard Killgo, citing violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The defendants are a KFC, Taco Bell, Long John Silver’s franchisee and own and operate KFC, KFC/Taco Bell, KFC/LJS, Hardee’s and other restaurants in several states across the southeastern United States, including Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and others, the suit states.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs were employed as assistant managers at establishments operated by the defendants in Baton Rouge and Gonzales. They aver that over the course of their employment, they typically worked five days a week for 10 hours per shift without receiving overtime compensation. They are filing their claim as a collective action pursuant to the FLSA.

Anderson and Veal seek designation of a collective action, compensation for unpaid overtime, liquidated damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs, expenses, attorneys’ and expert fees and a trial by jury.
