Shrimp boat captain alleges he was injured by tug boat

Shrimpboat

NEW ORLEANS – A shrimp boat captain is suing Highland Marine LLC for alleged negligence, which he claims caused him severe injuries.

Tommy Pellegrin Sr. filed a lawsuit on Feb. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Highland Marine LLC and Chris Dejean, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Pellegrin was employed by Dejean on Oct. 17, 2015, working as a captain aboard the shrimp boat Chris & Logan. While navigating the vessel, the plaintiff claims he was hit by a tug boat owned by Highland Marine and suffered bodily damage as a result of the collision. He avers that after he notified Dejean of the accident, nothing was done in terms of remediation and that his injuries directly resulted from Highland Marine's negligence.

Pellegrin seeks actual damages, exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of suit, attorneys’ fees, and a trial by jury. He is represented by M. Paul Skrabanek of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC of Houston.
