NEW ORLEANS – A senior rigger is suing Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co. over injuries he allegedly sustained from a crane aboard the tension leg platform Auger LTP.

Christian Quarles filed a lawsuit on March 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Quarles was aboard the Auger TLP on Jan. 10 working as a senior rigger for Berry Contracting LP, when he was suddenly hit by the load of a crane operated by an employee of the defendant. The plaintiff claims he was severely injured as a direct result of the defendant’s alleged negligence and purported failure to properly train its employees.

Quarles seeks damages in the sum of $1 million, legal interest, costs and disbursements. He is represented by C. Arlen Braud II, Michelle O. Gallagher and Steven D. Jackson of Braud & Gallagher LLC in Mandeville.
